Letters Show Intellectual Malcolm X - (ATLANTA)

Letters on exhibit at the Woodruff Library at Emory University in Atlanta show a different side of civil rights leader Malcolm X. Dr. Leroy Davis, professor of African American Studies at Emory University, says the letters clearly show a more intellectual Malcolm than what was previously thought throughout history. Dr. Davis says the letters -- mostly written to family members while Malcolm X was jailed between 1938 and 1955 -- were elegant, well punctuated, and showed at times, a kinder/gentler Malcolm.
